The Peterson family came to Smith County, Kansas in the late 1870’s. We proudly operate the land our ancestors homesteaded and raise Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, and Angus Beef Cattle.
Brothers Brent and Brian started farming together as children, using toy tractors and animals in the dirt. As they grew their father and grandfather taught them to operate farm equipment and care for 4-H and FFA animals. In high school they took on more responsibility following some accidents where their father was unable to physically do the work of farming. After attending college at Kansas State University, both brothers came home to grow the family farm.
From the 1990's to today, Brent and Brian strive to make wise, proactive stewardship decisions while analyzing the financial, agronomic, animal health, soil health and legacy impacts of those decisions. Sister Dana joined the team in 2023 to bring her administrative, policy, and economic skillsets into the management team.
Our farm headquarters is in Bellaire, Kansas, where our great grandfather's mechanic shop still stands. We're blessed with the privilege of operating cropland and pastureland for the many extended family members and other family friends in the Womer, Cora, White Rock, and Lebanon areas of northeastern Smith County, Kansas.
We strive to take care of this beautiful land as it has taken good care of our family through seven generations. We're building soil health and productivity for the next generation as we make decisions for the long-term. Several years ago, we went entirely no-till and are constantly learning about and implementing all types of technologies to improve the land and animals we're honored to steward.
Our family supports many community efforts as we recognize, just as our homesteading ancestors did, that we can't succeed without strong partners and neighbors.
